Capizzi

Capizzi is a small village perched on a knoll at the foot of Monte Averna. It is believed to have been founded around the 7th century BC. by Sicilian populations who took refuge in this place due to the pressure of the first Greek colonizers. Passed to the Byzantines after the fall of the Roman Empire, it was renamed Kabbtih.
Capizzi preserves important signs of these dominations in its monuments, churches and monasteries.
