From its 400 meters above sea level you can enjoy a splendid view of the Strait of Messina and the hills that gently slope down to the sea.
Castanea is a locality very popular holiday resort and it was also in the past: from the nineteenth century European aristocrats and rulers chose this village as a summer residence as evidenced by documents and testimonies in the numerous villas that remain in the area.
